Ralphie

Ralphie is a handsome black panther waiting for his forever home.  He is friendly and affectionate.  He really likes being pet and getting head scratches.  He also gets along well with other cats, and he would do well in a home with another cat.

Ralphie is approximately nine years old and has special needs.  Please ask the adoption staff for details regarding Ralphie's special needs.  He is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

You can find Ralphie in the Orange Room at our shelter.  He loves all the attention visitors give him.  I know that once you meet Ralphie, you'll fall in love with this sweet boy.

The shelter has an upcoming Mother's Day adoption special!  You can read about it here

Opt to Adopt Mango

Tuesday, April 28, 2015
Mango

Mango is a gorgeous cat!  She is a dilute tortoiseshell with medium hair and stunning green eyes.  As you can see from this photo, she loves to hang out in boxes.  She also loves to supervise her environment from high places; I can usually find her in the laundry room having a nap on the dryer or in a box on top of the cabinets.

Mango is a little shy with new people.  Once she gets to know you, though, she likes a little petting on her head.  If she really enjoys your company, she might even give you a few kisses!  Mango is also a good conversationalist.  She will happily tell you all about her day.

Mango is approximately 12 years old and has a lot of love to give.  Due to her status as a "senior" cat, she is part of the Perpet-U-Care program, which will cover a portion of her medical care for the rest of her life.  Mango prefers a quieter home without children.  She is already spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, litter box trained, and she tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Mango would love a visit from you.  You can find her in the shelter's upstairs hallway.  I know that once you meet her, you will see why Mango is such a special girl.

March Happy Tails

Saturday, April 25, 2015

I'm excited to share March's Adoption Tails with all of you!  I hope you enjoy them.

Jasmine

Josie and Jasmine: Josie and Jasmine found a forever home together.  They are a little shy, so they are adjusting to their new environment slowly.  They are warming up well.

Polonius ("Zeus"): Zeus is talkative and independent.  He enjoys playing with small dogs, and he even wags his tail like a dog.  He also likes sitting on top of the fish tank!

Penelope ("Socks")

Penelope ("Socks"): Socks likes to sleep and hang out with her new human.

Sid ("Strider"): Sid likes to explore.  His new human is working on socializing him more (as Strider is a little shy).  He shares his new home with an older female cat, and they are getting along well together.

Opt to Adopt Benvolio

Tuesday, April 14, 2015
Benvolio

Benvolio (isn't that a great name?) is a mediumhair brown tabby hoping to find his forever home.  Benvolio is a friendly cat who enjoys being around people.  He always likes my visits with him and loves being pet.  He is also playful.  Occasionally Benvolio gets a lion haircut, and he knows he looks adorable as a little lion!

Benvolio is approximately 14 years old.  Due to his status as a "senior" cat, he is part of the Perpet-U-Care program, which will cover a portion of his medical expenses for the rest of his life.  Senior cats make wonderful companions, and Benvolio is no exception.  He has a lot of love to give and would like to find a special human to share his life with.

Benvolio does well with dogs and other cats.  He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV, is up-to-date on his vaccinations, and is already neutered.

Please visit Benvolio sometime soon.  You can find him in the adoption center hallway.  He'll eagerly be waiting for your visit!

Celebrating Volunteers at Cat Care Society: It's National Volunteer Week in America, April 12-18, 2015

Sunday, April 12, 2015

Cat Care Society thanks and celebrates its team of 118 volunteers with 799 years of collective service to the organization. We appreciate all they do for the cats.

Quoting Jane Dorsey, Cat Care Society's Volunteer Coordinator, from her annual message:

"The 12th of April marks the beginning of National Volunteer Week, designated as such by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. We at Cat Care Society know well that volunteers make the difference between a nonprofit’s success and failure to exist. Without a strong volunteer program CCS would not be able to adequately shelter cats in need, and give them the love, attention and care they require while waiting for their forever homes. The program is always moving ahead with changes and new ideas.

Last year, we began a new program which focuses on hand-on socialization for the cats awaiting adoption. We have two shifts a day where a volunteer comes in and seeks out the neediest of our resident population and gives those cats the special attention they need. This hopefully helps them to endure life in the shelter with less stress, and more contented moments. We have seen good results for the cats while also giving the participating volunteers an opportunity to become more engaged with the furry friends they support. This is one of many tasks our team of volunteers does.

This past year also saw the formation of a communications team to keep up with social media and news feeds. Planning and implementation of fundraising events has also seen an increase in volunteer participation. Committee members are an absolute necessity to create the foundation for any successful event. Our volunteer-driven food bank for cat owners in need has been going strong for 5 years. This very successful outreach program would not exist if not for caring volunteers and donors. Our educational seminars are also a volunteer-driven project. Not only do the seminars acquaint new people with the shelter, but also provide our pet loving supporters with new ideas and ways to enjoy their cats.

Our amazing Board of Directors has selflessly supported, directed and nurtured our organization through thick and thin. They are Volunteers Extraordinaire!"
