Black Cat Appreciation Adoption Special

Thursday, August 13, 2015

Cairo, one of the beautiful, sweet black panthers waiting for adoption at Cat Care Society.

Monday, August 17th, is Black Cat Appreciation Day!  To celebrate our love of black cats, Cat Care Society is holding a week-ling Black Cat Appreciation Adoption Special.

From August 18th through August 23rd, you can name your price on any black cat or cat with some black fur one year of age or older, or you can spin the wheel to determine your adoption fee.  Land on light or dark blue, and have your adoption fee waived.  If the wheel stops on purple, green, or yellow, pay $8, and if it stops on red, pay $17 for your new cat.

Why should you adopt a black cat?

  • Black goes with everything!
  • In many cultures, black cats are a sign of good luck.
  • They look like mini black panthers.
  • Black fur doesn't show up on your black clothes.
  • They are as loving, affectionate, and sweet as any other color cat.
  • Adopting a cat saves a life!
Black cats currently available for adoption at Cat Care Society:

Please stop by the shelter to check out all of our black cats and cats with black fur.

Opt to Adopt Jarrett

Thursday, August 06, 2015

Photo Credit: Heather Allen, Cat Care Society Shelter Manager.

Jarrett is a handsome black panther who should be available for adoption soon.  He came to the shelter with a broken leg and had to spend some time on cage rest while his leg healed.  He is still favoring his leg, but he is now able to roam freely.

Jarrett is a friendly and affectionate cat.  He enjoys being held, sitting in your lap, and being pet.  He also enjoys playing.  Jarrett gets along well with the other kitties in the hall.

He is approximately two years old, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and litter box trained.  He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

You can find this handsome boy in the upstairs hallway at Cat Care Society.  Please stop by and visit him.  I know you'll fall in love with this sweet cat!

Adoption Tales By CCS Shelter Assistant Karlyn Mendez

Our 'Forever Home' recap from June 27th:

London (pictured here) - “Jasmine” found a home with one of our new volunteer socializers and her family. She is doing quite well in her new home and her personality has improved ten-fold. She chirps during playtime with owners and loves the fresh air from the window.

Wyatt & Alex - “Oder & Uller” were adopted by two men. Both cats like watching owners do their yard work and hate the washer and dryer. Oder likes to bat toys and Uller window watches.

Benji - “Arthur” also got a home with one of our volunteers. He shares his home with 4 other cats. He is still a bit timid but is content and purrs a lot.

Douglas - “D.C.” (Stands for Douglas Cat) is a very wired and hyper kind of guy. Definitely doesn’t need coffee to wake up! He is an only child and is adjusting to his home.

Cheddar - “Brio” feels very at home and tolerates the older cat. She enjoys her owner’s lap and loves pets.

Sammy

Sammy is an awesome lynx-point Siamese seeking his forever home.  Sammy is a sweet and affectionate boy and likes being pet.  He is a little shy around new people, but if you sit in his room with him for a while, he will come out and say, "Hello," to you.

Sammy came to the shelter with his friend, Pumpkin, after their human passed away.  Sammy would really like to find a new human to love.  Sammy is approximately 10 years old and is part of the Perpet-U-Care program, which will pay for a portion of his medical expenses for the rest of his life.

You can find this handsome cat in the Purple Room at our shelter.  Please visit with Sammy so you can see for yourself what a sweet and amazing cat he is.

Opt to Adopt Gomez

Gomez

Gomez is a handsome orange and white tabby currently waiting for his forever home at our shelter.  He is affectionate and likes to be pet.  He's the kind of guy who will sit near you while you watch TV, read a book, or pay your bills.

Gomez is a quiet cat and a little shy.  He likes to be up high, and I often find him hanging out on one of the shelves in his room.

He came to the shelter when his owner was no longer able to care for him.  At approximately 11 years old, Gomez is a "senior" cat with a lot of love to give to his new human companion.  As a "senior" cat, Gomez is part of the Perpet-U-Care program, which will pay for a portion of his medical care for the rest of his life.

You can find Gomez in the Purple Room at our shelter.  Please come by and visit with him.  He is a wonderful and loving kitty who will make a great companion.

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month.  Throughout the month of June, you can name your price on any cat at our shelter one year of age or older.  Please note that the standard adoption process still applies.

Opt to Adopt Pumpkin

Pumpkin

If you're looking for an adorable chatty companion, Pumpkin is the mancat for you!  Pumpkin is a very affectionate orange tabby with short hair.  He's quite friendly and enjoys being pet.  He's the kind of kitty who would love sitting by you while you watch TV or play on the computer.  And he always has something interesting to say!  You'll never get bored with this little chatterbox around.

Pumpkin is approximately 10 years old.  Though he is technically a "senior" cat, you'd never know it.  He has plenty of energy and love to share.  Because of his status as a "senior" cat, Pumpkin is part of the Perpet-U-Care program, which will pay for a portion of his medical care for the rest of his life.

Doesn't Pumpkin sound like the perfect kitty companion?  You can find him in the upstairs hallway of our shelter.  He'll be happy to tell you all about himself when you visit.

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month.  You can name your price on any cat at Cat Care Society one year old or older all this month.  Please note that the standard adoption process still applies.  We hope you'll take advantage of this awesome adoption special!

Opt to Adopt Spice

Tuesday, June 02, 2015
Spice

Spice is a pretty three-year-old tortoiseshell kitty who is hoping to find her forever home soon.  She is very affectionate.  Every time I go into her room, she comes over to greet me and follows me around.  She likes being pet and having her head scratched.  Spice also loves to eat; she happily cleans up any leftovers her roommates leave at mealtimes.

Spice is already spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  You can find her in the Orange Room at our shelter.  She would be very happy if you came to visit her.

June is Adopt a Cat Month.  From June 2 to June 30, you can name your price on any cat, one year old or older in our shelter.  Alternatively, you can spin our wheel to name a price for your new kitty.  Please note that the standard adoption process still applies.

Opt to Adopt Alex and Wyatt

Tuesday, May 26, 2015
Alex

Alex is a mostly black Domestic Mediumhair cat (with a little white patch of fur on his stomach) seeking his forever home.  Alex is friendly and outgoing.  When I visited him, he followed me around the room, giving me headbutts and asking for pets.

Alex is approximately three years old, and he came to the shelter with his best friend, Wyatt, when their owner could no longer care for them.

Wyatt

Wyatt is an adorable flame-point Siamese mix and is Alex's best friend.  Wyatt and Alex must be adopted together.

Wyatt is also friendly, though he is a bit shyer than Alex.  Both Alex and Wyatt get along well with other cats.  In fact, when I visited them, Wyatt groomed another cat in his room.  Both cats also get along with dogs.

Wyatt is approximately three years old.  He and Alex have both been neutered, are up-to-date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Please come by the shelter to get to know this sweet, affectionate pair of kitties.  You can find them in the Red Room.
