Denver Post: "Tails of the Painted Cats comes together purr-fectly for Cat Care Society"

Thursday, August 07, 2014
Quoting from Joanne Davidson's August 6th column about Cat Care Society's 2014 Tails of the Painted Cats Gala Dinner & Art Auction:

"Those on hand to hear the good news included artists Jane McFadden Dorsey, who has been the event’s program coordinator since Year One, and Carla Pawlewicz, whose 'Cat-Tails and Dogwood' won the People’s Choice Award.

Dorsey’s painted cat, 'Richard Parker,' elicited spirited live auction bidding. When two bidders each held their ground at $5,000, Dorsey, with Bidder No. 1′s blessing, agreed to make a second that would sell for the same price.

Others supporting the cause were former Tails chair Marsha CrestWarren and Helen Hanks, whose guest, Angela Alexis, won the 16 GB iPad that was the prize in the evening’s Heads & Tails drawing; Dave Barnes of Scenographics, who created the palette centerpieces; pianist Barbara Dawson, whose husband, Clyde, is on the CCS board; Richard and Kathy SwansonGreg and Cheryl ChamberlainStephanie DeGraff Bender, a national expert in women’s health issues; Don and Arlene Johnson; independent film producer Darla RaeHarold and Ada Anderson (he is a member of the Lone Tree city council and chairs the Centennial Airport Noise Roundtable); radio personality and Leadership Douglas County ambassador Amy Smith; Velocity Radio owner Michael CotsworthMark and Lee Ann Van LoucksDonita ScholtzLinda Robinson; and Donna Colm."

Tails of the Painted Cats 2014 post-event coverage on Examiner.com

Tuesday, August 05, 2014
Quoting John Davidson, the Denver Animal News Examiner, from his July 28th column:

"Personal tales highlight Cat Care Society's "Tails of the Painted Cats" event...The Cat Care Society raised an estimated $67,000 at its "Tails of the Painted Cats" event this past weekend, but what may be remembered most are the personal stories involving people who have helped the Lakewood shelter work for the past 33 years. The painted cats are fiberglass figures of felines painted with all sorts of colors and schemes by professional artists. Every year the society holds a dinner to auction them off, along with other objets d'cat. The money goes to care of the many cats the society handles."

Quoting Carrie Dow, the Lakewood Pet Examiner, from her July 30th column:

"The Cat Care Society's Painted Tail comes to an end...The 4th annual journey of Tails of the Painted Cats came to an end last Saturday, July 28, when the last cats were auctioned off at a gala dinner and auction for the Cat Care Society of Lakewood. The event is estimated to have brought in over $67,000 this year. Held at Pinehurst Country Club in Denver, this year’s gala once again featured Master of Ceremonies Ed Greene of CBS 4 Denver and auctioneer extraordinaire Douglas M. Tisdale, Esq. as they entertained over 175 guests and friends of the Cat Care Society. During the online auction and preview before the event, several of the cats were sold. Only eight of the 25 cat sculptures created for the event actually went up for auction during the dinner."
