2005 Hurricane Cats

November 2005

The Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) was hit hard by Hurricane Wilma. Despite loss of power and phone service, they continued operating on generator power and stayed open in order to take in animals that have been displaced in the aftermath of the hurricane. In order to help lighten their load, Cat Care Society welcomed twenty HSBC cats into our shelter and they traveled here all the way from Florida.

Over in Louisiana, Hurricane Katrina took its toll. The folks from Alley Cat Allies lent a hand during Katrina. They brought CCS a number of cats from that hurricane rescue.

The hurricane cats are getting accustomed to life in the North. Many have already been adopted and the rest soon will be. We hope you'll come to the shelter to visit our Florida felines. Let them tell you with their southern accents why you should take them home with you!

UPDATE: All our hurricane cats were adopted and are now happy in their new northern homes!
