In early October, an approximately seven-year-old female cat was abandoned outside the clinic in a carrier. One of our vet technicians discovered her and brought her in. An exam revealed that she had multiple skin injuries to her neck and face, an ulcer on her upper lip, a broken tooth, and three open facial wounds near her ear, jaw, and cheek. Her neck injuries were quite severe – the was no fur around her neck in the area where a collar would typically be. It was red and inflamed, and she had scratch marks around the area, probably from scratching the dry, irritated, itchy skin. We don’t know what she went through, but our skilled and dedicated veterinarian and veterinary technicians went right to work.
Dr. Lynne, Peggy, and Connie took care of the cat (whom they named “Necklace”) – giving her medicine, special cleaning routines, and love and nurturing. After several weeks, she was in much better shape and – surprisingly, given the trauma she must have endured – welcomed human attention and affection!
A very pretty and affectionate cat, Necklace was quickly adopted by a family, which has reported that she is doing quite well. Thank you to all of our supporters for all you do to help us make this story (and so many others like it) a happy one! |
