Tails of the Painted Cats 2012
This year’s Painted Cats have arrived back at the shelter in full regalia! They have attended their photo shoot and are now primping for their debut appearance at the Lakewood Arts Council Gallery. The tour schedule includes four opportunities to visit with these creative endeavors.
First on their agenda is their debut at the Lakewood Arts Council Gallery where they will play starring roles in a show called “Cats & Dogs”. The reception for that show is free and open to the public from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm on May 3rd. The gallery is located at 85 South Union Street in Lakewood behind the Wendy’s restaurant. In fact if you visit the gallery now, you can visit with Claudia Monette, this year’s drawing kitty, and purchase a ticket to win a place in your heart and home. Tickets for Claudia are $10.00.
From there, all the cats will travel to the Santa Fe Arts District in time for the First Friday Art Walk, and spend the month of June in various galleries in that area. At the end of June, they will head north, en masse, to Westminster to the Aar River Gallery for the Painted Cats Wine Tasting on June 29. The gallery is located at 3707 West 73rd Avenue in Westminster. Wine and light refreshments will be served and there will be a $10.00 charge at the door.
Then it’s down to the Tennyson Street Cultural District in time for their Friday Art Walk on July 6. After visiting with new friends there during the month of July, the cats will head south to Lakewood where they will be auctioned off to their new homes. You are invited to join us and our Emcee, Channel 4 weatherman Ed Greene for dinner and auction excitement July 28 at the Lakewood Country Club.
New this year is online ticket sales to the dinner auction as well as the ability to bid online. The Painted Cats gallery is up and running, accessible from this web page, so we welcome you to your online preview.
