My trips to Charleston and Cat Care Society

How y’all doin Society members? People from West Virginia talk funny. That is one of the things I learned during our Memorial Day vacation to Charleston, West Virginia. While I was there, the Vandalia Gathering was held on the grounds of the state capitol.

Thousands of visitors each year enjoy traditional music, art, dance, stories, crafts and food that stems from the "uniqueness of West Virginia's mountain culture." Here is a picture of me wearing a handmade wooden cowboy hat.

I also got to see the capitol building up close and personal. The weather was beautiful and we ate a lot of good food! Fun fact about West Virginia: Charleston is the home of the West Virginia Power (formerly the Charleston Alley Cats), a minor league baseball team. I say we campaign to have the team go back to the old name!

Since it took me such a long time to write the blog about my trip to West Virginia, I’ll follow up with a bonus blog entry.

Travelin' Tom (that’s me) visits Cat Care Society! First, I went to the White House and helped my foster mom do the cleaning and sweeping. Then I got my picture taken with Krista and Fiona. Two beautiful ladies, if you ask me. I hope they find forever homes soon.

Then I headed over to the shelter. It was good to see all of my feline friends. Jenny (that’s my foster mom) and I went into the copy room to record our volunteer hours and discussed the best napping positions with PJ.

Then I checked out the changes to Meow Mart that Damask was supervising. She could not stop purring about the new items that will be for sale. I think Damask is on the verge of finding her forever home – she is so pretty.

Before we left for home, I had my picture taken with a few of my other kitty friends: Gypsie, Oreo and Cotton.

It’s true that Cotton wears a bandana (you know about the bandana cats, don't you?) but with patience, love, and perseverance, you’ll find out she has a heart of gold.

Y’all remember to adopt, donate, or volunteer.
