Happily Homed: Cooper (Koala)

collage of a tabby cat

Beth Dokolasa

We have an #adoptionupdate from Annette who adopted Koala (now Cooper) this past May! Annette came to CCS looking for an older, short-haired male cat, but Cooper stole her heart! He was skittish and frightened, but then he came out from his hiding place, let her pet him, did some roly-polys and she knew he was coming home with her.

“Cooper was very frightened and hid for what seemed to be days on end, only coaxing him out of his hiding spots in the room with patience and treats. He’d give me a little tiny hiss but then head butt me for scratches and soft pets for a minute or two and then back to hiding. I thought this is going to take quite some time for him to trust, but has come so far very quickly. He is now a curious, playful, happy young boy who follows me everywhere.

“Cooper is a good eater and is growing by the day. He uses his litter box faithfully. He loves to snuggle and be petted, and believe it or not, he likes to be brushed. I wasn’t sure if I could ever brush that big fluffy tail. He purrs the whole time I’m brushing him. He runs and plays all through the house with his toys. He loves climbing one very tall scratching post to groom himself while sitting atop it. And oh my gosh toy wands! He’s nuts for them and tends to gather them all in one place or another ha ha! He only uses his scratching posts, never the furniture. He’s a very smart little guy.

“I’m looking forward to many years with this boy. Thank you for allowing me to adopt Cooper!”
